What I’m Buying at the Nordstrom Sale

My Outfits

12 Jul

You’ve now probably been hearing about the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale ad nauseam from every blogger and influencer on the planet. You are probably over it. I get that completely. But y’all it’s really good this year. It’s also a great way to score new fall trends while your kids are still out for summer break. You can be ahead of the curve and ready to rock those PTA meetings before anyone else. The prices go up August 5th, so don’t wait until then or you’ll be kicking yourself for spending more than you needed to.

How to get to shop early

You gotta get the Nordstrom Anniversary card. I know… you don’t need another card. I get that. This one makes sense even if you only use during this sale each year. If you have one, you already know that you get to start your shopping a full week early. So you’ll stand a better chance that the items your heart desires won’t sell out. Today (JULY 12th) is the day for cardholders to start shopping. Check out info here.

There are a few pieces that I always buy at the Anniversary Sale each year to get a jump on fall/ back to school shopping.

1. Sneakers for the kids

Nike Sneakers $49.90

Every single anniversary sale I stock up on sneakers for the boys and Hollins. this is certainly not the most exciting thing to spend my money on but it makes so much sense. They need them. You will have to buy them. Why not get them on sale? A lot of people ask, but what if I don’t know what size shoes my kids will wear when school starts? I have actually chatted with a few Nordstrom associates about this. I, now, buy 2 pairs of the same shoes in different sizes. You can still return the pair that doesn’t work because of Nordstrom’s great return policy. If you don’t like that idea, buy the ones you think will work. Then, when the day comes, if they don’t fit simply exchange them for the size you need. It’ll be an even exchange (as long as they are the same shoes) so you won’t have to pay the regular/ current price. Just a warning though- things do tends to sell out during the sale so no promises they’ll still be available.

Teen Boy/ Men Sneakers $66.90
Sneakers $36.90
Soft Pink Sneakers $39.90
Teen/ Men Running Shoes $89.90

2. Boots + Booties

SW Over-the-Knee Boots $399.90

The must- have items for fall ALWAYS includes boots and booties whether they are over-the-knee, at the knee, block heel or flat, suede or leather. When I was helping style people that was always the one piece each fall season that I would suggest them buying. Sure, you still have ones you love from years past, but if they you really feel-loved it’ll be time for a new pair. Maybe you love the white boot tend but didn’t want to pay full price because they are out of your comfort zone. Me? I needed some new moto boots so I found these.

Moto Booties $129.90
Python Booties $79.90
Basic Booties $109.90

3. Coats & Jackets

Plaid Coat $169.90

I LOVE coats! They are one of my favorite things to buy therefore I have a ton. Our winter coat season in NC is so short so it doesn’t really even make sense for me to buy them but I do. The Anniversary sale always offers a great selection of coats and jackets. Here’s few of my favorites-

Shearling Trim Plaid Coat $196.90
Water-Repellant Parka $239.90
Long Teddy Coat $118.90
Teddy Coat $64.90

4. My Favorite Sweater

Normally this would be “Fall Dress” but I (personally) wasn’t impressed with the dress selection this year. I did find quite a few sweaters that I believe will be on repeat during the cooler months.

Striped Sweater $44.90
Lightweight Sweater $25.90
Turtleneck Sweater $49

5. A good pair of designer jeans

Flares

A must for fall! Whether you are looking for flares, skinnies, blue or black, I found so many great jeans discounted for the sale!

Good American Flares

These flares were some of the softest jeans I have ever felt! There is also plenty of stretch so you’ll probably end of sizing down like I did.

AG Black $125.90

AG jeans have been my favorites since I discovered designer jeans were a thing in my early 20’s. They fit me consistently and stretch just enough. I have tried other brands but I always find myself going back to my AG’s.

AG High-Waisted Skinny $149.90
AG Relaxed $149.90

I have a couple of pairs of Article of Society jeans and really like them too. They are a good price normally but during the sale it’s great!

AoS Skinny Ankle $41.90

These Free People Busted Knee jean are sold out most of the time anyways. Now they are in stock (probably not for long) and on sale.

FP Busted Knee Jeans $51.90

Other items I picked up…

I sleep in long pajamas year-round. I have a weird thing about my thighs sweating and sticking together while I sleep. Ugh- I can’t handle it! These are my favorite. If its warm i’ll even just throw the pants on with my favorite oversized t-shirt. This is my 3rd pair of these. I still wear my first pair from 3 years ago every single week. Get these pajamas!

Cozy PJ’s

These slippers are going to be my “carpool” shoes. You see me every morning dropping the kids off in these amazing hot pink furry slippers. They come in 3 colors too!

Slippers $54.90

This sweatshirt will be a staple in my closet. You can wear it with jeans, matching shorts or sweatpants… anything. It’s so soft too!

Sweatshirt $25.90 / Matching Shorts $15.90 / Pants $25.90 (Pictures below)
Cozy Shorts
Cozy Pants

The last few trips I have borrowed my sister’s overnight bag because the one I have is too heavy to throw over my shoulder and haul everywhere. This one is such a great price and super lightweight. It comes in 3 different colors.

Weekender Bag $59.90

My favorite candle is the Baies but I have wanted to try all the others in this set so this is the best way to not spend a fortune. Also would make great birthday, shower or Christmas gifts if your are thinking ahead.

Travel Candle Set $55.00

I have wanted to try a silk pillowcase for a while now but I haven’t taken the plunge. A couple times this summer I have woken up with deep wrinkles on my face that last half the day because of my basic pillowcase. This actually comes with 2! I’ll have one at home and keep one for traveling.

Silk Pillowcase $119

Cozy blankets can be found all over our house. The den, playroom, all of the bedrooms even in the cars for road trips. I have some great ones that will come to be your new favorite.

Wild Throw Blanket $119.90
Cozy Throw $96.90
Camo Throw $119.90

That’s all folks!! Happy Shopping!
