Blood Orange-Habanero Margaritas

Cocktails· Food· Recipes

12 Nov

My cousin Susannah came to town last week to celebrate her birthday.  She has worked in restaurants for a long long time and always makes the best cocktails!  She whipped up these AMAZING Margaritas.  If you love a spicy margarita, I think you’ll love these too. They quickly became a favorite in our house!

To make the juice (will make plenty of cocktails):

32 oz carton/ container of Blood Orange Juice

1 Habanero Pepper, quartered

Bring these 2 ingredients to a boil over medium-heat, then reduce heat to low-medium and simmer for 10 minutes. Strain out pepper and any seeds. Let cool, then refrigerate until cold.

To make one cocktail:

4 oz white tequila

Fresh lime juice from 1- 2 limes

1 tbsp of agave nectar

1/2 cup of juice mixture

Put all ingredients with crushed ice in cocktail shaker and shake vigorously.  Pour over a glass of crushed ice.
