Two things that are everywhere right now… floral and velvet. Floral isn’t just for spring anymore people. Florals in jewel tones and darker colors are all over and every boutique and department store I frequent. There are dresses, skirts, tops and even shoes. Velvet has been back for a couple of years now but it’s all over the place. Some pieces are a throw back to my grunge 90’s style and some are new and more updated pieces. I mean who in the 90’s didn’t have a little black velvet dress?!?
I was in the Anthropologie fashion show recently and it was dripping in florals and velvet touches. They can go together perfectly. Mixing patterns is still on trend but it can be difficult to navigate through everything out there. Head to toe velvet is one way to go but you can also add a simple velvet clutch to any outfit or velvet jacket with a t-shirt and distressed jeans.
